Mountain Mason

Garden sculpture of a dwarf carving himself out of a block of Black Alberene soapstone from Schuyler, VA.

I made this garden sculpture stone carving in 1994 as a trade to a dentist in Knoxville, TN. As with many of my carvings, the idea came from the shape of the rough block of stone. I started the process and left the rest to the mountain mason.
